Empowering collaborative communities

Books, Immortal Storytellers

Supporting writers from all cultures and languages is important so that we have children’s books, essays, and novels that match all people in our beautiful world.  Fiction mirrors reality, but this is not so in school libraries worldwide.  Too often, books on the shelves reflect only the white Anglo-Saxon Christian lifestyle.  A lasting result of Imperialism in developing countries and oppression in the U.S.

It is important for the present children to see a reflection of themselves in the books they read, so they can connect to reading and value literacy in a very personal way.  Also, for our future generations because literature is immortal and carries with it the values and traditions of our many societies for all time.

Please watch as Nigerian Storyteller Chimamanda Adichie talks about her childhoood literature experience.
